Our Essential Oils
Our products are fragranced with what are commonly called "essential oils". These natural, aromatic oils are the concentrated essence of plants. Peppermint essential oil is distilled from the leaves of the plant, while lemon essential oil is extracted from the peels of the fruit. When you smell a rose, or when you rub pine needles in your hands, you smell essential oils in their natural state. These oils are also found in roots, barks, grasses, flowers, gums, buds and other plant parts. However, not all essential oils can be captured and stabilized for use. Lilacs produce a beautiful scent but the essence of the Lilac cannot be harvested.
Here
at the Common Sense Farm, we not only use some of the commonly known
essential oils - such as Lavender, Orange & Eucalyptus - we also use
many that aren't so readily recognized, such as Cabreuva, Cistus, Styrax
and Davana. Each essential oil is unique and lends it's own special
attributes. Quality essential oils, such as those used in our products,
not only lend value as a fragrance, but also possess therapeutic qualities,
such as Chamomile and Rose. Listed below are the oils used in our products.
